The Show is Open!

Seventy people have come to view the exhibit since we opened on Tuesday at Noon. 

 

Joni Pienkowski, a well known artist who lives in Blacksburg, was the first to come by (Joni, thanks for being such an ardent supporter of the arts in the region).  She wrote:

 

"It is a (picture of a star) SHOW! And learning more of your history is fascinating. THANKS."

Joni created this painting of a Virginia Tech graduation ceremony and it is in the Squires Permanent Collection and hanging between the 2nd and 3rd floors in the atrium.

Professor Emeritus, Robert Henry Graham taught at Virginia Tech's School of Visual Arts from 1983 until 2010.  The exhibit opens on Tuesday August 28 and runs through Saturday September 29, 2012.

The 30 year retrospective of Robert's work spans his years teaching in Blacksburg, but brings influence from his start in Chicago and his early painting in San Fransciso.

Put August 31 on your calendar.  The meet the artist reception will be held at the gallery from 5 - 7 p.m. on this date.
